Orange - Ulster BOCES is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Instructor to teach a course focused on a foundational understanding of HVAC systems.  The class prepares students for further study and hands-on experience in the HVAC field. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 4:00pm - 9:00pm.

Some duties include:

• Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons
• Instruct students in the basic principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration cycles
• Teach operation and function of common HVAC compoentns (compressors, condensers, evaporators, air handling units)
• Demonstrate safety procedures, proper tool usage, and trade math concepts
• Provide an overview of system installation and maintenance practices
• Prepare students for the EPA 608 Certification opportunity
• Answer questions and support diverse learning styles
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment 

Job Qualifications:

• 5 years' proven experience working in HVAC field
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and safety standards
• Prior teaching or public speaking experience preferred
• Ability to communicate cleary with both novice and experienced learners
• EPA 608 certification a plus but not required
• Must be fingerprinted

High School Equivalency instructors provide remedial instruction in the four component areas of the GED exam: Reading and Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.  Instructors implement differentiated instruction according to each student's unique learning needs, maintain accurate attendance and testing records, administer the TABE 11/12 assessment and Readiness assessment, along with assisting students with applications for the GED exam.   

Substitute instructors follow the instructor's emergency lesson plan and if none available, are prepared to support instruction with their own lessons.  Substitute instructors are also responsible for ensuring students to sign in and out on the class roster and submit this to the course instructor or program manager.

The work day hours may be 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm or 6pm-9pm.
