| Assistant Director of Operations | | Position Overview The Assistant Director of Operations & Maintenance is a key leadership role within the Orange-Ulster BOCES Operations Department, supporting the Director in the effective management, operation, and care of all district buildings and grounds. This position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, and the community. Working under the general direction of the Director of Operations & Maintenance, the Assistant Director exercises sound independent judgment and provides direct supervision to custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping staff. The role combines strategic planning, personnel management, and hands-on operational oversight within a collaborative, mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities - Assist in directing, supervising, and scheduling staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of district buildings and grounds
- Support staff development through evaluation, coaching, training, and discipline, while promoting safe work practices and regulatory compliance
- Assist with employee relations matters, including grievance processing
- Collaborate in developing departmental operating budgets, analyzing operational costs, and supporting collective bargaining activities, including cost analyses
- Identify mechanical and structural deficiencies and authorize or recommend appropriate repairs or replacements
- Prepare specifications for building repairs and grounds maintenance projects
- Help design and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to ensure facilities and equipment remain in safe, reliable operating condition
- Participate in routine and specialized inspections of buildings, grounds, heating plants, and high-risk equipment
- Contribute to the recruitment, selection, training, and professional development of subordinate staff
- Provide hands-on assistance with repairs, maintenance tasks, grounds work, athletic field preparation, and other operational duties as needed
- Utilize computer-based tools such as spreadsheets, word processing, email, calendars, and databases to support daily operations and reporting
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Personal Characteristics - Thorough knowledge of building maintenance and operations across multi-building systems
- Strong understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including safety procedures
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, supplies, and industry terminology
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations governing school facilities and construction
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and supervise buildings and grounds maintenance programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets
- Skill in maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and managing documentation

| Principal | | Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking a Principal to join the leadership team and lead our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a Monday through Friday schedule. The Principal of CTE is responsible for the day-to-day operations of CTE, overseeing 30+ programs and the staff and students who are becoming the next generation of tradespeople, healthcare workers, first responders, and the business owners our communities need. This role works closely with the Director of CTE and has supervisory responsibility for all instructional and support staff. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Lead and oversee the SED approval process by reviewing and updating academic curriculum across all CTE programs.
- Review, modify, and align academic curriculum to define units of study, benchmarks, and forms of assessment that meet commencement-level New York State Learning Standards.
- Oversee the administration of Standardized Industry Assessments (e.g., NCCER, Prometrix, YouScience) and ensure compliance with Perkins accountability requirements.
- Direct and supervise the recruitment, interview, and hiring process for teaching and support staff.
- Oversee and manage assistant principals, teachers and staff assignments, duties, and responsibilities.
- Conduct observations and formal evaluations of teachers and support staff in accordance with OUBOCES and NYS requirements.
- Address and resolve student discipline issues; refer serious matters to the Director as appropriate.
- Perform all duties required for addressing issues and concerns related to the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA).
- Lead the assessment, development, coordination, and implementation of student awareness programs, including Peer and Sexual Harassment prevention.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CTE, including facilities, scheduling, and program logistics.
- Manage and monitor program budgets in collaboration with the Director.
- Ensure compliance with all NYS mandated assessments and reporting requirements.
- Perform all other duties as required and assigned by the Director of CTE.
