Behavior Analyst

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An employee in this class is involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions, positive behavioral supports, contextual supports and staff professional development for students with special needs to ensure socially significant outcomes and increased academic engagement. Incumbents will work collaboratively with school district/ school-based administrators, school teams to execute effective behavior instruction, functional assessments of behavior and the implementation of behavior plans to provide support in creating positive outcomes for all students. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level administrative employee with considerable leeway for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative in carrying out the duties of the position. Supervision is not normally exercised over the work of others. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Provides and develops staff and parent training as well as on-site support in the areas of positive and proactive behavior support and applied behavior analysis for families and support staff; Conducts direct observations and assessments of individual students and their learning environments; Develops and implements behavior programs, coordinating delivery of appropriate services to students in order to achieve positive outcomes; Participates in interdisciplinary team review meetings at which behavioral intervention and support plans are reviewed; Collects baseline and intervention data to evaluate outcomes including progress monitoring; Engages in research as well as professional development activities to enhance the program and to remain current in the field; Conducts functional behavioral assessments/analysis and develops behavioral support/intervention plans; Develops and/or provides guidance for one to one supplementary support personnel plans; Develops and delivers staff professional development in the area of proactive and positive behavioral support; Completes written behavioral summaries to assist teachers and administrators in the development of appropriate learning experiences and behavior plans; Maintains program records and statistical report of students evaluation, treatment plans, number of students assessed, and their progress.

Senior Food Service Helper

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is responsible food service work involving the performance of a variety of routine and manual tasks in a school cafeteria with emphasis placed on assisting the Cook or Cook-Manager in the routine preparation of certain foods such as desserts, soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. Work is performed under general supervision with leeway permitted to exercise independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. May direct and oversee the work of Food Service Helpers. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Slices meats, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes for sandwiches, cheeseburgers, salads, etc.; Prepares a variety of sandwiches and salad plates; Makes a variety of salads such as tuna, chicken, egg, coleslaw, macaroni and place them in individual serving cups; Sets up trays for cooking hamburgers, french-fries, chicken and other frozen or prepared foods; Assists the Cook or Cook-Manager in the preparation of main courses such as meatloaf, turkey, pizza, spaghetti, etc.; Serves lunches including type A, a la carte, and bag lunches; Prepares custodial orders to have various food and supplies brought from stockroom to kitchen; Cleans kitchen equipment and machines, cafeteria tables, pots and pans, work areas, steam tables, etc.; May act as cashier during lunch hours; May supervise or train Food Service Helpers; May perform duties of Cook or Cook-Manager when absent; May perform custodial duties on a substitute basis.

Sign Language Interpreter

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for  translating spoken material into sign language for deaf and hard of hearing students. This  position also involves responsibility for interpreting comments of deaf and hard of hearing  students for teachers, aides and peers. An employee in this class works closely with deaf and  hard of hearing students in a classroom setting. The incumbent works under the general  supervision of an administrative superior. Does related work as required.  

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:  

Provides interpreting and/or transliterating utilizing American Sign Language and English for  deaf and hard of hearing students;  

Interprets comments of deaf and hard of hearing students for teachers, aides and peers;  

Accompanies and supervises deaf and hard of hearing students in other school activities such  as assembly programs, field trips, playgrounds, cafeteria, etc.;  

May assist with arrangements and preparations for science demonstrations, music and art  classes, audio-visual presentations, etc.;  

May proctor and assist in the administration of various tests;  

May assist teacher by performing a variety of duties related to teaching activities, such as  photocopying, filing and distributing information, preparing teaching aids, keeping classroom  records and attendance, etc.;  

May assist in crisis intervention and assist in classroom management as directed by the  teacher;  

May assist children with disabilities to maintain a normal school routine, including, but not  limited to, bus arrivals and departures, cafeteria help, toileting, emergency exit during  evacuation drills, lifting, carrying when needed;  

May arrange and assist with parent conferences under direction of teacher;  May relieve classroom teachers for emergencies and meetings as needed. 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL  CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of American Sign Language; working knowledge of  classroom routine; skill in the use of sign language; ability to work as a team member; ability to  accurately interpret for the deaf and hard of hearing; ability to establish good relationships with  the students and teachers; ability to maintain discipline; patience; tact; reliability; physical  condition commensurate with the demands of the position.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school  equivalency diploma.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Proficiency in American Sign Language as determined by review  and approval of appointing authority.
