About the Role:

As a Teacher of Students with Disabilities, you will work with students who have significant developmental and intellectual disabilities, social/emotional needs, behavior management needs, and/or learning differences. You will play a key role in supporting students' individualized needs while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with students, identifying, developing, and implementing appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and environmental modifications to maximize each student's potential.
  • Draft annual goals and short-term objectives for IEP meetings, regularly evaluate student progress, and adjust goals as necessary.
  • Use critical thinking skills to effectively assess, develop and deliver training and information to establish and maintain strong relationships and regularly communicate progress towards goals.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid NYS Certification in Special Education is required (SWD 1-6, 7-12 or All Grades)
  • Experience preparing and delivering meaningful instruction based on students’ assessed needs, IEP goals, and motivational levels.

Temporary Teacher

Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking a Temporary Teacher to join the Special Education Division. This position is Monday through Friday, effective immediately through June 26, 2026.

Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking 3 Teachers of the Blind and Visually Impaired for the six-week 2026 Summer School Program. 

The program will run from July 6, 2026, through August 14, 2026.

Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking a Temporary Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped to provide comprehensive services that enhance language, speech, and communication development for students. The position is effective immediately through June 26, 2026.

Orange-Ulster BOCES provides the foundation and knowledge that enables its students to venture forth in any direction they choose. Students served (K-12) include individuals with significant developmental and intellectual disabilities, social/emotional needs, behavior management needs and/or learning differences.

Substitute Teachers - CTE

Substitute Teacher positions are available in our Career and Technical Education division in all content areas. 

Monday - Friday, 7:45am- 3:15pm

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

ESL Teacher of Adults Ages 21 and Older

English as Second Language (ESL) teachers in Adult Education provide instruction in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and 

speaking. 

  • Incorporate civics education within the ESL curriculum and implement differentiated instruction to meet the needs of a variety of English Language Learner levels. 
  • Maintain accurate attendance and testing records and administer the Best Plus and Best Literacy assessment. 
  • Collaborate with literacy case managers and the data manager regarding testing needs of students.

Part-time, Monday–Thursday.

Times Vary: Hours may be 9am–12pm, 12-3pm or 6-9pm
