An Invitation to Apply for the Position of Superintendent of Schools of Goshen
The Goshen Central School District invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The Board of Education is searching for a dedicated and caring leader who will bring vision, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to students to this K-12 district of approximately 2,800 children, and who is eager to guide an innovative and forward-thinking school community.
Set in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Goshen is the county seat of Orange County, New York, a historic village whose roots reach back to the early 1700s. The District is composed of four schools, all located within the Village of Goshen: Scotchtown Avenue School, Goshen Intermediate School, C.J. Hooker Middle School, and Goshen Central High School, together serving students from kindergarten through grade twelve. Its boundaries take in the Village of Goshen and most of the Town of Goshen, along with the Campbell Hall section of the Town of Hamptonburgh and a portion of the Town of Wallkill.
Life in Goshen pairs small town character with deep history and modern appeal. The village is home to the Goshen Historic Track, the oldest continuously active harness racing track in the nation and the origin of Goshen’s long-held title as the “Trotting Capital of the World,” with the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame standing just beside it on Main Street. It is also the site of LEGOLAND New York Resort, the Northeast’s first LEGOLAND. Recognized by Smithsonian Magazine among the best small towns in America to visit, Goshen offers a walkable downtown, an active arts community, a long-running farmers market, and the scenic Heritage Trail. The area provides convenient access to New York City, world-class cultural attractions, year-round outdoor recreation, and respected colleges and universities, with regional travel made easy by New York State Route 17 and nearby Stewart International Airport.
The District offers a regionally competitive salary together with a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to hold, New York State certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL).
The online application will remain open through September 14, 2026 at [Recrutifront URL].
