This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the health and workers’ compensation plans, including financial recordkeeping, regulatory filings, and acting as a liaison between health plan partners and providers. The role ensures compliance with municipal accounting standards and supports the financial and operational activities of the division. Work is performed under the general direction of an Administrator.
Prepare monthly financial reports, maintain subsidiary ledgers, and reconcile with the general ledger in accordance with municipal accounting standards.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of state regulatory filings.
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of a computerized financial application system.
Manage and resolve funding and payment issues with insurance carriers and financial institutions.
Oversee and coordinate the annual audit for health and workers’ compensation plans.
Provide data analysis for the Business Administrator and independent auditor.
Represent the district at meetings regarding health insurance and/or workers’ compensation, as needed.
Assist in all phases of the division’s business and financial operations.
Balance and monitor all accounts on a weekly basis.
Prepare various reports as required.
Oversee workers’ compensation plan funding and claim payments to carriers.
May lead and direct the work of other staff
Length of work day: 8:00am to 1:00pm
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
A. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the analysis of financial accounts, records, or budgets; OR
B. Possession of an Associate’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field and four (4) years of experience as outlined above; OR
C. Possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of experience as outlined in (A) above.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Proficiency in office software and financial management systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with staff, vendors, and administrators.
Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
