We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Purchasing Technician to join our central business office team. In this role, you’ll help procure essential commodities and services, ensuring we secure the best value while following established laws, regulations, and policies. You’ll serve as the link between departments and vendors, keeping purchasing processes efficient and accurate.
What You’ll Do
Review and process purchase requisitions, making necessary adjustments and guiding departments on purchasing procedures
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, explaining purchasing processes and requirements
Prepare clear, accurate bid specifications for competitive requests
Analyze bids, select the lowest responsible bidder, and facilitate award approvals
Maintain vendor records and track bids submitted
Research and evaluate new sources of supply
Verify prices, approve invoices, and ensure timely deliveries
Follow up on delayed orders and resolve procurement issues
Coordinate with clerical staff to support purchasing operations

Solid knowledge of purchasing methods, market trends, and vendor relations
Ability to analyze prices, spot cost-saving opportunities, and negotiate effectively
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Effective communication skills with both vendors and internal teams
Commitment to accuracy, compliance, and timely service
This provisional appointment is pending passing and qualifying on the Civil Service Exam for this title.

Qualifications (must meet one of the following):
Option A: Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field plus 2 years of purchasing experience
Option B: High school diploma or GED plus 4 years of purchasing experience
Option C: An equivalent combination of education and experience
