Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, preventive and supportive psychiatric services for students utilizing the related disciplines of the department's personnel; Participates in the intake and screening processes and functions as a member of the interdisciplinary educational teams; Administers and participates in individual, group and family therapy; Monitors behavior of students on medication; Suggests additional appropriate treatment programs to Committees on Special Education; Participates in in-service training of the Department's staff; Participates in seminars and workshops for staff and parents in order to further community knowledge in the detection and prevention of psychiatric disorders.
Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT WHEN ASSIGNED TO ORANGE-ULSTER BOCES: In addition, candidates must be certified in psychiatry by, or be eligible to be certified in psychiatry by, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
